To be fair, when has the internet been impressed with corporate identity overhauls?<\/p>\n<p>People get attached to designs, even the poor ones, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.designmantic.com\/blog\/retro-food-logos-past-years\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">power of <\/a>nostalgia resists change. From the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.designmantic.com\/blog\/subway-logo-redesign\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Subway redesign<\/a> to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.designmantic.com\/blog\/netflix-revamps-its-logo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Netflix redesign<\/a>, neither had many fans initially. But we grew to love their new logos and shudder at returning to their old unstable serifs and 3D outlines.<\/p>\n<p>So, is there hope for the new Lamborghini logo?<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s discuss what the new design entails and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.designmantic.com\/blog\/brand-logos-redesign-in-2021\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">whether a change was needed<\/a> at all.<\/p>\n<h2>What\u2019s at the heart of the Lamborghini logo change?<\/h2>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.designmantic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Lamborghinis-New-Logo.jpg\" alt=\"Lamborghini\u2019s New Logo\" width=\"800\" height=\"400\" class=\"wp-image-23187\" title=\"Lamborghini\u2019s New Logo\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.designmantic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Lamborghinis-New-Logo.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.designmantic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Lamborghinis-New-Logo-300x150.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.designmantic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Lamborghinis-New-Logo-768x384.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.designmantic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Lamborghinis-New-Logo-500x250.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lamborghini.com\/en-en\/news\/automobili-lamborghini-launches-its-new-corporate-look\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">According to Lamborghini corporate<\/a>, \u201cThe restyling is driven by a new strategy that involves adapting the brand\u2019s visual expression to better reflect the \u201cbrave\u201d, \u201cunexpected\u201d and \u201cauthentic\u201d values of its mission, namely \u201cDriving Humans Beyond\u201d, a concept that translates into the intention to always go beyond the limits, standards and conventions.<\/p>\n<p>This evolution is part of the broad transformation process denoted Direzione Cor Tauri, the strategy that embodies Lamborghini\u2019s new trajectory focused on sustainability and decarbonization.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Simplifying the corporate speech, the new logo intends to showcase Lamborghini as a sustainable automobile company. One that\u2019s decarbonizing its manufacturing and distribution processes, and working on creating electric cars.<\/p>\n<p>Now, when you think of electric cars, you don\u2019t think of 3D styling and powerful motifs. You think futuristic, aerodynamic, and minimalist.<\/p>\n<p>And that\u2019s exactly what Lamborghini has tried to pull off with its logo redesign.<\/p>\n<p>Cor Tauri is the Latin term for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lamborghini.com\/en-en\/news\/lamborghini-announces-its-roadmap-for-electrification-direzione-cor-tauri\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">\u2018heart of the Bull<\/a>\u2019. It also represents the brightest star in the constellation of Taurus. Direzione refers to direction.<\/p>\n<h2>Key details of the new Lamborghini logo<\/h2>\n<p>With such grand objectives to achieve, what changes were made to the Lamborghini logo?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<h3>1. A refreshed new look<\/h3>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.designmantic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Lamborghinis-before-and-after.jpg\" alt=\"Lamborghini logo before and after\" width=\"800\" height=\"400\" class=\"wp-image-23185\" title=\"Lamborghini logo before and after\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.designmantic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Lamborghinis-before-and-after.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.designmantic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Lamborghinis-before-and-after-300x150.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.designmantic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Lamborghinis-before-and-after-768x384.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.designmantic.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Lamborghinis-before-and-after-500x250.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If you aren\u2019t paying attention, the before and after versions of the logo will look quite similar. The basic shape (the badge), the icon, and even the colors are the same (only muted now).<\/p>\n<p>But the devil as always is in the details.<\/p>\n<p>The new bull logo has lost its shine and much of the muscle. It\u2019s a lot leaner with silhouette highlights. The outline of the badge is also much thinner and going forward, we\u2019re not going to see the badge at all on Lamborghini\u2019s digital touchpoints.<\/p>\n<p>It will only accompany the logo and the bull icon on corporate identity, official documentation, and vehicle bodies.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<h3>2. A broader typeface<\/h3>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Lamborghini has released a new custom typeface to go with its sleek new identity. The new typeface is much broader than the one before. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.designmantic.com\/blog\/designing-for-luxury-brands\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Luxury brand building<\/a> relies heavily on bespoke typefaces. And this new one by Lamborghini isn\u2019t getting anyone excited.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<h3>3. Minimal yet bold colors<\/h3>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The pared-down Lamborghini logo has done away with its powerful and magnificent color palette. It kept true to its historical color palette of mahogany and gold and strengthened it by removing the metallic sheen and making the colors richer and more saturated.<\/p>\n<p>Lamborghini missed the mark. While it remains to be seen how its black and white bull logo will carry the legacy brand forward, we have some hope with the gold accent it has added. It may be able to help the sports brand get some of its luster back.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<h3>4. Focus on the Lamborghini bull<\/h3>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Lamborghini has decided to highlight its bull icon with more vigor. The company states, \u201cFor the first time, [the bull] will exist individually on the company\u2019s digital touchpoints, separated from the classic shield to lend it even greater prominence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And the decision makes sense.<\/p>\n<p>With their Direzione Cor Tauri philosophy guiding their design choices, giving the bull emblem a more visible and prominent platform becomes essential. It should not be contained inside a shield anymore.<\/p>\n<p>But don\u2019t worry. The Lamborghini logo on the car will still be in its complete form, including the shield.<\/p>\n<h2>Does the Bull win this round of redesign?<\/h2>\n<p>Considering that Lamborghini has unveiled its new logo after a significant gap of 20 years, you\u2019d think people would be more receptive to it.<\/p>\n<p>But the internet is a difficult audience to please.<\/p>\n<p>Especially when it comes to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.designmantic.com\/blog\/lessons-from-logo-redesigns-2022\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">corporate logo redesigns<\/a>. Every time a company releases its new logo, the internet suffers a meltdown. Granted, some redesigns do deserve a pushback. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.designmantic.com\/blog\/twitter-logo-rebrand-into-x\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Twitter should never have been X-ed<\/a>, for example, and we have a hard time forgiving whoever thought it was a great idea to redesign the I &#x2665;&#xfe0f; NY logo. You just cannot mess with a Milton Glaser icon and come out winning.<\/p>\n<p>But how legitimate is the criticism of the Lamborghini logo? Sure, the changes aren\u2019t prominent enough to merit the title of \u2018evolution\u2019 or \u2018transformation\u2019, but the restyling is rooted in purpose. It had to forgo a heavy-handed brand logo to rebrand itself as a sustainable automobile company focused on electric cars. The new Lamborghini logo is more streamlined, simpler, and cleaner \u2014 perfectly suited to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.designmantic.com\/blog\/infographics\/automobile-logos-electric-cars\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">style of electric automobile logos<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But here\u2019s a peek at what the Internet has been saying about it.
